How to build the perfect pick-and-mix bag

1) Start with a reliable “base”

Pick 2–3 candies you already love and build your bag around them. A base keeps the mix from tasting like “a bit of everything” and makes it enjoyable all the way through.

2) Try the 50/30/20 balance

A simple rule of thumb:

  • 50% sweet (fruit, foam)
  • 30% sour (sour gummies, fizzy pieces)
  • 20% salty/licorice (if you like it)
Adjust to taste, but keep rough proportions so one style doesn’t dominate.

3) Texture matters more than you think

Aim for at least three textures:

  • soft foam
  • chewy gummies
  • firmer pieces
Texture variety makes the bag feel bigger and more interesting, even if the amount is the same.

4) Mix big and small pieces

Large candies can make the bag feel repetitive. Add smaller pieces to “fill the gaps” and create variety across bites.

5) Keeping candy fresh at home

Store candy in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. If you want textures to stay distinct, avoid mixing very soft foam with extremely sour/sugary pieces for long periods.
